Acrylic Display Cases for Collectibles

I’ve been collecting sports memorabilia ever since I was a kid. Back then, I would painstakingly write fan letters to my favorite athletes in the hopes of receiving a signed photo or other piece of memorabilia back from them. I particularly liked football, and some of my best successes from that sport included autographs from Joe Montana, Dan Marino, and Walter Payton. As I got older, I started branching out and collecting memorabilia from other sports. Once my collection expanded beyond autographed pictures, I began purchasing acrylic display cases to show off my prized pieces.

Acrylic display cases are great for any collection because they allow an item to be seen while still protecting it from dirt, debris, and, most important of all, fingerprints and oil from people’s hands. Like most collectors, I enjoy showing off my hard-won autographs, but I don’t like my signed baseballs, footballs, and hockey pucks to be handled and potentially damaged by folks that don’t know what they’re doing. I once had a baseball signed by Nolan Ryan in a regular ink pen (this was a bit before Sharpie markers became the standard), but the signature got smudged after a friend fooled around with it for a while. Acrylic display cases prevent things like that from happening.

The great thing about acrylic display cases is that they come in a wide variety of shapes and sizes, making them perfect for displaying just about any kind of collection you have. For example, I have small acrylic display cases for baseballs, hockey pucks, miniature helmets, baseball cards, and other undersized collectibles. I have bigger ones for basketballs, footballs, regulation sized helmets, jerseys, and shoes. I’m confident that whatever item I want to show off, I’ll be able to find just the right case for it.

Setting up my acrylic display cases is something else to consider when deciding how to exhibit my collection. Some of them are shaped more or less like large picture frames and can go directly on the wall. Others can be placed on existing shelving or other flat surfaces, such as a bookcase, fireplace mantel, or coffee table. For special pieces that I really want to highlight, I might buy a separate stand and place it in a prominent location where visitors are sure to notice it immediately. The combinations and possibilities are truly endless in this regard.

No matter what kind of collection you have, one of the best ways to show everything off is to purchase acrylic display cases in the right size. You’ll not only be able to keep your collectibles organized and tidy, you’ll also be able to protect valuable items from the damaging influences of the environment.
